    Practice What I Preach Workshop

    Saturday, October 17, 2009 10am-4pm

The first workshop of the 2009-2010 Season is described below by Pam Buda. It sounds like a fabulous learning experience. Workshop cost will be $35. See Marie Blunk
    meblunk@comcast.net for sign-up.

This is a hands-on lesson of the techniques covered in my lecture. The skills taught in this class will be used each and every time you quilt!! Here is an opportunity for each student to try out the “Make It Larger ~ Trim It Down” techniques for Half Square Tri-angles, Quarter Square Triangles, Sq-in-Sq units, Flying Geese, to name a few. We'll cover good pressing techniques and I can help to improve the accuracy of the ¼ inch seam by watching the student and/or have them watch me. We will cover how best to handle Connector Corners for perfect results, how to join the ends of your binding for a lumpless binding and how to hide flaws and imperfections in the seam allowance. You will learn the very basics of quilting MATH (yes, it's quilting's four letter word!) and, with this skill, be able to re-size blocks, draft your own blocks and re-size basic quilts! If any student would like help with general quilting problems such as those described here, this is an opportunity for one-on-one assistance. Students will be given a supply list and a short list of cutting instructions in advance of class.

The Practice What I Preach Workbook is required ($10) and is packed full of all of the material covered in the lecture & class.
